Peter George Yarranton

Peter George Yarranton was born in Acton on 30 September 1924 and educated at Willesden Technical College. He served as an operations officer in the RAF during World War Two and was promoted to Flight Lieutenant. In 1953 he played at lock for both London Counties and Combined Services against New Zealand and later that season gained the first of five caps for England. A mainstay of the Wasps club, he later became its president and also held similar office with Middlesex. He captained the Barbarians against East Midlands in 1957 and Penarth in 1963 and served on the Club committee from 1961 to 1965. Peter Yarranton died on 1 January 2003, aged 78.
