Peter James Winterbottom

Peter James Winterbottom was born in Horsforth on 31 May 1960 and educated at Rossall School. He was a finance executive and played at flank-forward for Headingley and Harlequins and had two spells overseas with Hawkes Bay in New Zealand and Transvaal in South Africa. In 1983 he played for the North against New Zealand. Between 1982 and 1993 he scored three tries in 58 internationals for England - a new national record for the position. Peter Winterbottom twice toured New Zealand with the British Isles - in 1983 his 12 matches included the four tests and in 1993 his seven appearances again included all three tests.
