Lloyd Hugh Williams was born in Taff's Well on 19 October 1933 and educated at the local primary school and Caerphilly Secondary School. He worked in the building industry and the wholesale meat business. He was one of four brothers to represent the Barbarians - the other three were B.L., A.D. and C.O. [q.v.]. Lloyd Williams played at scrum-half (and occasionally fly-half) in 310 games for Cardiff between 1952 and 1964 and was club captain for two seasons between 1960 and 1962. His 13 caps for Wales ((1957-1962) included three as captain.
