Gerwyn Williams

Gerwyn Williams was born in Glyncorrwg on 22 February 1924 and educated at Port Talbot Secondary School and Loughborough College. He was a member of the London Welsh club when he won the first of his 13 Welsh caps in 1950 and three years later was again at full-back when Wales defeated New Zealand. He was also a successful coach at Whitgift School. His eight games for the Barbarians included the match against South Africa in 1952 and the captaincy against Newport later the same season. Gerwyn Williams died on 10 February 2009, aged 84.
