Gareth Powell Williams

Gareth Powell Williams was born in Bedlinog on 6 November 1954 and educated at Bridgend Grammar School and Cardiff College of Education. Having qualified and worked as a teacher he later became the manager of a building society. He captained Bridgend in 1984/85. A useful utility forward as well as a specialist No 8, he gained five caps for Wales between 1980 and 1982. In 1980 while touring North America with Wales B he joined the British Isles tour of South Africa as a replacement and played in six matches. Gareth Williams is the brother of O.L. Williams [q.v.]
