John Graham Willcox

John Graham Willcox was born in Sutton Coldfield on 16 February 1937 and educated at Ratcliffe College, the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst, and Oxford University where he gained four Blues at full-back between 1959 and 1962. He played for the University against South Africa in 1960 and for North-Western Counties against New Zealand in 1964. He played club rugby for Fylde, Harlequins, Paris University Club and Headingley. He was first capped for England in 1961 and went on to play in 16 internationals including three as captain in his final season in 1964. After serving in the Army for four years and then graduating at Oxford he became a teacher at Ampleforth College. He toured South Africa with the British Isles in 1962 and scored 67 points in 15 matches, including three tests. John Willcox captained the Barbarians against Swansea and Leicester in 1963 and Penarth in 1964.
