Dennis Thomas Wilkins

Dennis Thomas Wilkins, known as 'Squire', was born in Leeds on 26 December 1924. He played at lock for the Roundhay club. In World War Two he was a Fleet Air Arm pilot and after leaving the Royal Navy he worked as a marketing director. He also played for United Services (Portsmouth), the Royal Navy and in 1951 for the Combined Services against South Africa. He also captained North-Eastern Counties against the same Springboks' touring team. He played in 13 internationals for England between 1951 and 1953 and captained the Barbarians against Cardiff in 1953. Squire Wilkins died on 30 January, aged 87.
