Stephen Harold Wilcock

Stephen Harold Wilcock was born in Lancashire on 21 June 1935 and educated at Kirkham Grammar School and Oxford University where he read law. Between 1957 and 1959 he won three Blues at number 8 and open-side wing forward. He played club rugby for Fylde, Bedford, Harlequins and Northampton and county rugby for Lancashire. Steve Wilcock scored a try against the Barbarians in the 1957 Mobbs Memorial Match and later that year made the first of his ten appearances for the Barbarians. On the 1958 tour to South Africa his versatility was put to good use when he was selected on the wing against Western Province - and duly scored a try. He was twice in winning teams - for Oxford University and North-West Counties - against the 1957/58 Wallabies and he played in five international trials, including three final trials at Twickenham, and was an England reserve without gaining a full cap.
