Geoffrey Arthur Derek Wheel
Geoffrey Arthur Derek Wheel was born in Swansea on 30 June 1951 and educated at Danygraig School. He worked in brewery management. He joined Swansea from the local Mumbles club and established a reputation as a fine mauling lock forward. He captained Swansea in 1979/80. Between 1974 and 1981 he gained 32 caps for Wales but was unfortunate to withdraw from the 1977 British Isles tour of New Zealand on medical grounds. In 1976 Geoff Wheel toured Canada with the Barbarians and the following year played for the Club against the British Isles at Twickenham.
