Nigel Keith Walker

Nigel Keith Walker was born in Cardiff on 15 June 1963 and educated in the city. In 1984 he reached the semi-finals of the 110 metres hurdles in the Los Angeles Olympics. In September 1992 he joined Cardiff RFC and within six months gained the first of his 17 caps on the wing for Wales. He scored 12 tries in internationals, including four in an RWC qualifying match against Portugal in 1994. A serious injury in the second half of the 1997/98 season forced his retirement. He worked for the Sports Council in Cardiff and later joined BBC Wales as Head of Sport.
