Abraham Johannes Jacobus van Straaten

Abraham Johannes Jacobus van Straaten, known as Braam, was born in Pretoria on 28 September 1971 and educated at Wonderboom High School. He played at fly-half and centre for Western Province, the Eagles, the Blue Bulls and the Griquas and later in the United Kingdom between 2001 and 2004 for Leeds Tykes and Sale Sharks. He scored 294 points in 27 matches for the Springboks, including 221 points in 21 tests for South Africa. In 2000 he played as a replacement for South Africa against the Barbarians at the Millennium Stadium.
