Phillippus Albertus van den Berg

Phillippus Albertus van den Berg, known as Albert, was born in Hoopstad on 26 January 1974 and educated at Vryburg High School. He played at lock for the Griquas, the Cats and Natal Sharks. Between 1999 and 2007 he played in 55 matches for South Africa, including four tries in 51 tests. In 2000 he played for South Africa against the Barbarians at the Millennium Stadium and in 2007 was a Springboks' replacement in the corresponding fixture at Twickenham .
