Richard Uren

Richard Uren played full-back for Waterloo and won four caps for England between 1948 and 1950. A gifted all-round sportsman - he was a 'scratch' golfer, champion yachtsman and fine skier - he made his Barbarian debut in the Mobbs Memorial Match of 1948, kicking seven points in a 13-11 victory. His goalkicking prowess was also instrumental in Cheshire winning the County Championship in 1950. Born in West Kirby on 26 February 1926, he died at the age of 84 on 30 May 2010.
