John William Cleet Turner

John William Cleet Turner was born in Hawick on 28 September 1943 and educated at Gala Academy and Kelso High School. He played at fly-half and centre for Gala and in 20 internationals for Scotland between 1966 and 1971. He represented South of Scotland against Australia in 1966, when he scored a try in the 13-0 victory, and against South Africa in 1969, when the game ended in a 3-all draw. In 1968 he toured South Africa with the British Isles and scored three tries and two drop goals in 11 appearances, including the four tests. Jock Turner died on 19 May 1992 aged 48.
