Richard Frank Trott

Richard Frank Trott was born in Cardiff on 14 March 1915. Originally a full-back for the Penarth club, whom he captained in 1938/39 and he also played for them against the Barbarians in 1938 and 1939. It was as a Penarth member that he made his Barbarian debut in the war-time fixture against Thorneloe's XV in 1944, scoring a try in a 23-11 victory. After the war he joined Cardiff, played in two Victory internationals, and won the first of eight full caps for Wales against England in 1948. In the same year he played for the Barbarians against Australia. After playing 205 games for Cardiff he retired and later became honorary secretary of Cardiff Athletic Club. Frank Trott died on 28 March 1987, aged 72.
