Robert Bainbridge Taylor

Robert Bainbridge Taylor was born in Northampton on 30 April 1942 and educated at Northampton Grammar School and King Alfred's College, Winchester before qualifying as a teacher. He played club rugby in the back-row for Northampton and gained 16 caps for England between 1966 and 1971 - 10 at wing-forward and six at number 8 and captain against France in 1970. He also captained England & Wales XV v Scotland & Ireland XV in the RFU centenary match of October 1970. In 2007/08 Bob Taylor was president of the RFU. His 14 games for the Barbarians included the game against New Zealand in 1967 and the tour to South Africa in 1969 when he captained the side against Quaggas and Southern Universities; he was also Barbarians' captain against Leicester that year. On the 1968 British Isles' tour to South Africa he played in 14 matches, including four tests.
