Frank Douglas Sykes

Frank Douglas Sykes was orn in Batley on 9 December 1927 and educated at St Paul's College, Cheltenham where he qualified as a PE teacher. He played on the wing for Huddersfield and, chiefly, Northampton. He made four appearances for the North-Eastern Counties against international touring teams - South Africa (1951 and 1960), New Zealand (1954) and Australia (1958). His four caps for England were over an eight-year span from 1955 and 1963. He toured New Zealand with England in 1963. On the British Isles' tour of South Africa in 1955 he scored nine tries in 14 appearances.
