George Drummond Stevenson

George Drummond Stevenson was born in Hawick on on 30 May 1933 and educated at Hawick High School. He was a qualified engineer and later a whisky representative and played for and captained Hawick. He also played for the South of Scotland against Australia in 1957 and South Africa in 1960. In 1965 he scored a try for Scottish Districts in their 16-8 victory against South Africa. Between 1956 and 1965 he played in 24 internationals for Scotland, 18 at centre and six on the wing, and scored three tries. George Stevenson died on 23 October 2012, aged 79.
