Ian Stephens
Ian Stephens was born in Tongwynlais on 22 May 1952 and educated at Whitchurch Comprehensive School. He worked as a cabinet maker and played at prop for Bridgend where he was club captain in 1985/86 and played against the All Blacks in 1978. In 1980 he was touring North America with Wales B when he was drafted in to the British Isles' squad in South Africa. He then made five appearances for the Lions and in 1983 toured with them again, playing in four matches including one test. Between 1981 and 1984 he gained 13 caps for Wales. In 1983 Ian Stephens captained the Barbarians against Swansea.
