Ian Richard Smith

Ian Richard Smith was born in Gloucester on 16 March 1965 and educated at Sir Thomas Rich County School, Oakleaze. He worked as a civil engineer. The son of Richard Smith [q.v.], he captained Gloucester for three seasons from 1991 to 1994. Between 1992 and 1997 Ian Smith gained 25 caps at flanker for Scotland. In 1992 he captained the Barbarians against Newport. He later coached Moseley.
