George Kenneth Smith

George Kenneth Smith was born in Edinburgh on 2 June 1931 and educated at George Watson's College and Oklahoma University. He was a farmer in the Scottish Borders and played at wing-forward for Kelso. He played for the South of Scotland against New Zealand (1953), Australia (1957) and South Africa (1960). Between 1957 and 1961 he gained 18 caps for Scotland and also played for Scotland & Ireland against England & Wales in the Twickenham Jubilee Match in 1959. Earlier the same year he toured Australasia with the British Isles and scored four tries in 17 appearances, including four tests. Ken Smith was president of the Scottish Rugby Union in 1994/95.
