Michael Anthony (Charles) Slemen

Michael Anthony Charles Slemen was born in Liverpool on 11 May 1951 and educated at St Edward's School, Liverpool, and St Luke's College, Exeter where he qualified as a teacher. He played club rugby on the wing for Liverpool and between 1976 and 1982 scored eight tries in 32 internationals for England. He later became England's backs' coach. In 1980 he toured South Africa with the British Isles, scoring five tries in five games, including one test, before injury curtailed his tour. His six tries for the Barbarians included two against New Zealand in 1978. Mike Slemen is the father of D.J. Slemen ([q.v.].
