John Allan Edward Siggins

John Allan Edward Siggins was born in Belfast on 28 June 1909 and educated at the Methodist College and Armagh Royal School. He worked in insurance and played at number 8 for Collegians. He was captain in nine of his 24 internationals for Ireland between 1931 and 1937. He also led Ulster to a 3-all draw against New Zealand in 1935. He captained the Barbarians against Cardiff and London in 1935. He was equally successful as an administrator, serving as an Irish selector, a representative on the International Rugby Board, and as president of the IRFU in 1962/63. In 1955 he was manager of the successful British Isles' tour to South Africa. Jack Siggins died on 24 November 1995, aged 86.
