Allan Roy

Allan Roy was born in Ainsdale, Lancashire, on 13 May 1911 and educated at Fettes College. A businessman primarily in the jute trade, he played at lock for the Waterloo club and toured south Wales with the Barbarians in 1939. His six caps for Scotland began with the Triple Crown season of 1938 and concluded the following year before he served with the Cameron Highlanders in World War Two. Allan Roy died on 16 April 2011, four weeks before his one-hundredth birthday.
