Robin Roe
Robin Roe was born on 11 November 1928 and educated at King's Hospital School and Trinity College, Dublin. He made his Barbarians' debut against Cardiff on the Easter Tour of 1951, a year before he won the first of his 21 caps as a hooker for Ireland. His club rugby was played for Lansdowne and London Irish. An Army chaplain who later was awarded the MC for his service in Aden, he also played in the Inter-Services' tournament in Twickenham. In 1955 he played 11 games for the British Isles on their successful tour of South Africa. His final representative rugby was gain with the Barbarians on their pioneering tour to Canada in 1957, completing his 11 appearances for the Club. In later life his many distinguished honours included his promotion to Assistant Chaplain General to 1st (British) Corps and, in 1977, his appointment as Honorary Chaplain to the Queen. The Rev Robin Roe, CBE, MC, QHC, died on 15 July 2010, aged 81.
