Adam Robson

Adam Robson was born in Hawick on 16 August 1928 and educated at the local high school and then Edinburgh College of Art. He combined his role as Head of Art at Dollar Academy with a celebrated career as an artist. He captained Hawick in 1957/58 and playing at wing-forward he gained 22 caps for Scotland between 1954 and 1960. He later became president of the Scottish Rugby Union in 1984/85. A very proud Barbarian, he played 15 times for the Club, including the win over Australia in 1958, and on the 1957 pioneering tour to Canada was captain against Quebec. He was also Barbarian captain against Penarth in 1960 and served on the Committee from 1985 to 2003. Adam Robson died on 15 March 2007, aged 78.
