Michael Gordon Roberts

Michael Gordon Roberts was born in St Asaph on 20 February 1946 and educated at Ruthin School, Trinity College, Dublin, and Oxford University where he gained a Blue in 1968, The following year he played for Oxford & Cambridge Past & Present against the Barbarians in the Oxford Centenary Match. Mike Roberts was the director of a sports' travel company and played at lock for London Welsh where he was club captain in 1975/76. He represented London Counties against Fiji in 1970 and North Wales against Tonga in 1974 and Romania in 1979. Between 1971 and 1979 he won eight caps for Wales and scored a try in his final appearance against England. In 1972 he played for England & Wales against Scotland & Ireland in Murrayfield. On the 1971 British Isles' tour of Australia and New Zealand he made 11 appearances.
