Hugh Meirion Roberts

Hugh Meirion Roberts was born in Caernarvonshire on 11 September 1934 and educated at Cardiff High School. He played at centre for Welsh Secondary Schools in 1953 and at senior level for London Welsh before joining Cardiff in 1958. In eight seasons at the Arms Park he made 225 appearances and was club captain in 1964/65. Meirion Roberts gained eight caps for Wales between 1960 and 1963 and in 1961 was in the Barbarians' team that beat South Africa.
