Mark Gerarde Ring

Mark Gerarde Ring was born in Cardiff on 15 October 1962 and educated at Lady Mary High School in the city. A gifted footballer, he played mainly at centre but also at full-back and fly-half for Wales in 32 internationals between 1983 and 1991. Mark Ring scored 94 tries in 262 appearances for Cardiff and also played for Pontypool. He later held a series of coaching appointments with Cardiff, West Hartlepool, Penzance, Caerphilly and Cross Keys. His eight games and 53 points for the Barbarians included the matches against Australia in 1988 and Argentina in 1990 and the captaincy in the Mobbs Memorial Match of 1991.
