Gordon Rimmer
Gordon Rimmer was born in Southport on 28 February 1925 and educated at King George V School in the town. He worked as a sports outfitter and also as a brewery agent. He played at scrum-half for Waterloo and made three appearances for the North-Western Counties against major touring teams - Australia (1947), South Africa (1951) and as captain against New Zealand in 1954. He gained 12 caps for England between 1949 and 1954. He toured with the British Isles to Australasia in 1950 and played in eight games, including one test. Gordon Rimmer died in September 2002, aged 77.
