John Matthew Ranson

John Matthew Ranson was born in Durham on 26 July 1938 and educated at Durham School and Birmingham University. He was a brewer and, later, a teacher and played on the wing for Durham City, Rosslyn Park and Headingley. He represented North-Eastern Counties against New Zealand in 1963 and the victory over Australia in 1966. In 1963 he toured New Zealand with England and between then and the following year he scored two tries in seven internationals for England.
