Leon Scott Quinnell

Leon Scott Quinnell was born in Morriston on 20 August 1972 and educated at Graig School, Llanelli. He played a total of 205 games for Llanelli and their regional reincarnation,the Scarlets, at flanker and number 8. He also played union for Richmond and between 1994 and 1996 he made 39 appearances for Wigan rugby league club. Scott Quinnell is the son of Derek Quinnell and his younger brothers, Craig and Gavin [q.v.], also played for the Barbarians. First capped by Wales at flank forward in 1993 he went on play in 52 internationals, seven of them as captain, and scored 11 tries. He twice toured with the British Isles, to South Africa in 1997 and Australia in 2001, making a total of nine appearances, including three tests. On the 2001 tour he scored three tries in the opening match against Western Australia.
