Stanley John Purdy

Stanley John Purdy was born on 6 February 1936 and educated at Lawrence Sheriff School, Rugby, and Nottingham University. Between 1954 and 1972 he played in 342 matches at flanker for Rugby FC. He also played over 100 games for Fylde and was captain of both clubs. At county level he played 66 times for Warwickshire, including seven County Championship titles, and represented Midland Counties against New Zealand and South Africa. In 1962 he gained an England cap in the Calcutta Cup match at Murrayfield. Stan Purdy was a management consultant.
