Brian Price

Brian Price was born in Bargoed on 30 October 1937 and educated at Cardiff College of Education and St Luke's College, Exeter. A fine lineout specialist in the lock position, he captained Newport in 1963/64 and 1968/69 and also Wales in six of his 32 internationals between 1961 and 1969. In 1966 he toured Australasia and Canada with the British Isles, playing in 19 games, including four test matches. In 1961 he was the only uncapped player in the original XV invited to play for the Barbarians against South Africa and he was also in the teams that played Canada in 1962, New Zealand in 1964 and Australia in 1967. Originally a P.E. teacher, he became a respected radio broadcaster and rugby analyst for BBC Wales.
