Andrew Thomas Powell

Andrew Thomas Powell was born in Brecon on 23 August 1981 and educated at Llandovery College. He played in the back row for Newport, Beziers, Leicester, the Scarlets, Cardiff Blues and London Wasps before joining Sale Sharks in June 2011. Andy Powell first played for Wales in 2008 and the following year toured South Africa with the British Isles, playing in five matches. By August 2011 he had played in 18 internationals for Wales and was included in the squad for the Rugby World Cup. After featuring in two Mobbs Memorial Matches he was a Barbarians' replacement in the defeat of New Zealand in 2009.
