Malcolm Stanley Phillips

Malcolm Stanley Phillips was born on 3 March 1936 and educated at Arnold School, Blackpool, and Oxford University where he gained four Blues, 1956 to 1959. A member of the Fylde club and a fine attacking centre, his 25 caps for England between 1958 and 1964 also included two games, against New Zealand and Wales in 1964, on the wing. In 2004/05 he was president of the RFU. Malcolm Phillips scored nine tries in 18 appearances for the Barbarians and played against Australia in 1958, Canada (1962) and New Zealand (1964). He was captain against Penarth in 1964 and served on the Barbarian committee from 1965 to 1968.
