Sergio Matteo. Parisse

Sergio Mattheo Parisse was born in La Plata, Argentina, on 12 September 1983. His father was Italian and Sergio returned to Italy to play for Benetton Treviso at number 8. He gained his first cap against New Zealand in 2002 and transferred to Stade Francais in 2005. In January 2008 he was appointed captain of Italy, working closely with new coach Nick Mallett [q.v.]. In May and June 2011 he captained the Barbarians to victories over England and Wales and was nominated as man-of-the-match in the latter.
