George William Norton

George William Norton was born in Dublin 0n 1 April 1920 and educated at St Mary's College. He worked as an insurance agent and played at full-back for Bective Rangers. Between 1949 and 1951 he scored 41 points in 11 internationals for Ireland. In 1950 he was selected for the British Isles tour of Australasia but his tour ended prematurely when he broke an arm in his third match against Southland. George Norton died on 7 October 1999, aged 79.
