John Daniel Nelson

John Daniel Nelson was born in Cardiff on 25 July 1926. Known as 'J.D.' he appeared for London Welsh and Eastern Counties before returning to Cardiff for whom he played 291 games as a wing-forward between 1948 and 1959. His two games for the Barbarians were on the Easter tour of 1958 - he also played for Cardiff against the tourists on the Easter Saturday. In later years he became Cardiff's secretary and was elected to the club's hall of fame in 1999. J. D.Nelson died on 10 January 2000 at the age of 74.
