Willem Petrus Nel, known as 'WP', was born in Loeriesfontein on 22 May 1984 and educated at Drostdy Technical High School, Worcester. He played at prop for Western Province, Boland and the Cheetahs and was an uncapped member of the Barbarians team that defeated New Zealand at Twickenham in 2009.He was the only uncapped player in the Barbarians' 25-18 win over the All Blacks at Twickenham in 2009.
