Geordan Edward Andrew Murphy

Geordan Edward Andrew Murphy was born in Dublin on 19 April 1978 and educated at Newbridge College in Co Kildare and de Montfort University, Leicester. He played at full-back for Leicester, was a member of the sides that won the Heineken Cup in 2001 and 2002, and was club captain from 2008 to 2010. Goerdan Murphy first played for Ireland in 2000 and by November 2011 had scored 98 points, including 18 tries, in 72 internationals. After missing the 2003 Rugby World Cup due to injury after initial selection, he featured in the 2007 and 2011 tournaments. In 2005 he toured New Zealand with the British Isles and played in seven matches, including one test. His three tries included two against Taranaki.
