Tendai Mtawarira,known as Beast, was born in Harare on 1 August 1985 and educated at Peterhouse School. he played at flanker for Zimbabwe Schools before moving to South Africa where he established a formidable reputation as a scrummaging and ball-carrying prop for Natal Sharks. He first played for the Springboks in 2008, was in the team that played the British Isles the following year, and by the start of the 2011 Rugby World Cup had played in 28 tests. He also played as a replacement for South Africa against the Barbarians at Twickenham in 2010.
