Alan John Morley

Alan John Morley was born in Bristol on 25 June 1950 and educated at Colston's School. He worked as an auctioneer. In 18 seasons on the wing for Bristol from 1968 he made a remarkable 519 appearances for the club and scored 384 tries. His tally of 479 tries in all first class matches is believed to be a world record. At county level he played for Gloucestershire and he also represented Western Counties against Australia in 1975 and South & South-West against New Zealand in 1978. He played as a replacement for South & South-West against the 1981 Wallabies. He scored two tries in seven internationals for England between 1972 and 1975 and was selected for England & Wales against Scotland & Ireland in Dublin in 1975. Alan Morley joined the British Isles' tour of South Africa in 1974 as a replacement and played in two provincial matches, scoring a try on his debut against the Leopards.
