Ian Roland Metcalfe

Ian Roland Metcalfe was born in Birmingham on 10 February 1958 and educated at King Edward's Birmingham and Cambridge University where he gained two Blues at full-back in 1978 and 1979. He also played for the University against the USA in 1977 and New Zealand in 1978. At club level he played for Moseley. His four games for the Barbarians encompassed two Easter tours, the first in 1985 shortly before he went to New Zealand with England and played in provincial matches against Poverty Bay, Auckland and Southland. He also played for England at under-23 and 'B' levels. He joined the committee of the Barbarian Football Club in 2008. He is a member of the RFU Board of Directors and chairman of the union's Professional Game Board. Ian Metcalfe is a lawyer and a Managing Partner of the law firm Wragge & Co.
