John McLauchlan

John McLauchlan, known as Ian, was born in Tarbolton on 14 April 1942 and educated at Ayr Academy and Jordanhill College. He played club rugby for Jordanhill and West of Scotland. His diminutive size for a prop at 5'9" and barely 15 stones earned him the sobriquet of "Mighty Mouse" and he established a formidable reputation in 43 games for Scotland, 19 of them as captain, between 1969 and 1979. He toured with the British Isles to Australasia in 1971 and South Africa in 1974, playing in 30 games, including eight tests. Ian McLauchlan became president of the Scottish Rugby Union in 2010/11.
