James William McKay
James William McKay was born in Waterford on 12 July 1921 and educated at Coleraine Academy and Queen's University, Belfast. He played at wing-forward and No 8 for Queen's University and qualified as a doctor. He played for Ulster against Australia in 1947 and South Africa in 1951. Between 1947 and 1952 he gained 23 caps for Ireland. In 1950 he toured Australasia with the British Isles and played in 15 matches, including the six tests, and scored ten tries. He later emigrated to New Zealand. Bill McKay died on 15 October 1997, aged 76.
