Matthew McCarthy

Matthew McCarthy was born on 16 April 1971. A darting fly-half in the Welsh mould, he scored 11 points, including two drop goals, when Cambridge won the 1994 Varsity Match against Oxford 26-21. Among several clubs he played for were Neath, Llanelli, Aberavon and Orrell and he was with Pontypridd when he played for the Barbarians as a replacement in the 1998 Mobbs Memorial Match. He also represented Wales A and Wales Sevens.
