Philip Michael Matthews

Philip Michael Matthews was born in Gloucester on 24 January 1960 and educated in Northern Ireland at Regent House, Newtownards, and Queens University, Belfast. He played in the back row for Dublin Wanderers and Ards. Between 1984 and 1992 he gained 38 caps for Ireland and was captain in the 1991 Rugby World Cup. He also led the Barbarians against Australia in 1988.
