Allan Jeffrey Martin

Allan Jeffrey Martin was born in Port Talbot on 11 December 1948 and educated at Sandfields School and Cardiff College of Education where he qualified as a teacher. He later set up his own sporting goods business. A goalkicking lock forward, he played club rugby for Aberavon and, briefly, Llanelli and Penarth. Between 1973 and 1981 he gained 34 caps for Wales. He toured with the British Isles to New Zealand and Fiji in 1977 and South Africa three years later, playing in 22 games, including one test. His 15 appearances for the Barbarians included five Easter tours of south Wales. Allan Martin is the father of S.J.Martin [q.v.]
