Ranald Macdonald

Ranald Macdonald was born in Consett on 18 January 1928 and educated at Coatham School and Edinburgh University where he qualified in medicine. He played at centre for the university and Percy Park and also in four internationals for Scotland in 1950. Later that year he toured Australasia with the British Isles and playing on the wing scored 10 tries in 14 matches and made two test appearances. In 1947 he played twice against the touring Wallabies - for Northumberland & Durham and Glasgow & Edinburgh. Ranald Macdonald died on 2 October 1999, aged 71.
